Properties of polyethylene materials
Article source: WUHU popularity:1689 Time of publication:2019-01-12
PE is also called polyethylene, polyethylene is divided into low molecular weight and high molecular weight two, low molecular weight is generally liquid, colorless, odorless, insoluble in water, density of 0.92 g / cm ³, can be used as lubricating oil and coating; High molecular weight is generally solid, milky white, thermoplastic, waxy to the touch, density between 0.92~0.96 g/cm3.
Polyethylene material is corrosion-resistant and has good insulation performance. High-density polyethylene has the characteristics of rigidity, hardness and mechanical strength, and can be used as containers, pipes, and high-frequency electrical insulation materials for radar and television. It is insoluble in water, water absorption is very small, that is, some chemical solvents, such as toluene, acetic acid, etc., are only slightly dissolved at temperatures above 70 °C. However, the granular polyethylene can melt or solidify with the change of temperature between 15 °C ~ 40 °C, and melt when the temperature rises, absorbing heat; When the temperature decreases, it solidifies, releasing heat. And because it absorbs very little water, is not easy to moisture, and has insulation properties, it is a good building material. The microgranular polyethylene is mixed with cement, which can be used as walls and floors, using its characteristics of endothermic melting and exothermic solidification at normal temperature, when the room temperature rises, it melts and absorbs heat; When the temperature decreases, it solidifies and releases heat. This keeps the room temperature stable. Therefore, it is a better heat storage material.
According to other characteristics of polyethylene, polyethylene building materials also have the effect of anti-leakage, heat-proof, moisture-proof and anti-corrosion. Commonly used to make:
1. Due to the high specific stability, moisture resistance and high dielectric properties of polyethylene, electrical insulation materials make it an insulating material in electrical engineering and non-organized electrical engineering.
2. Used as a material to resist erosion chemical reagents, can be used as chemical structural materials, such as various parts, pipes, anti-corrosion linings, etc.
3, used for packaging Polyethylene sheets, films have low density, soft without plasticizers, high tear strength, non-absorbent, impermeable and chemical resistance, these are necessary for packaging materials, so polyethylene film has a very broad market in the packaging industry and gradually replaces celluloid.
